The Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja has underscored the crucial role that nutrition pays in sustainable social and economic development.

Speaking in relation to the ongoing 3rd National Nutrition Forum from 13th to 17 , Nabbanja says malnutrition has serious long-lasting and irreparable effects on society and the economy.

She says this Forum is a call for action towards achieving improved nutrition for all by 2025.

Nabbanja adds the outcome of the Forum will shape government policy actions in addressing stunting and wasting, to be operationalised in the subsequent National Development Plan IV and Nutrition Action Plan III.

“The Forum aligns with the government’s development priorities, as highlighted in the NRM Party Manifesto, National Development Plan III, and National Development Plan IV strategic direction. These priorities are in line with regional, continental and global development policy frameworks”, she says in press statement.

The 5-day conference is running under the theme; “Unlocking Nutrition’s Potential: Accelerating Multi-sectoral Actions and Strategic Investments for Enhanced Nutrition Security”
