The National Water and Sewerage Corporation boss, Dr. Silver Mugisha has been recognized for increasing water coverage in the country.

According to Samuel Apedel the corporation’s public relations manager, Dr. Mugisha was recognised by the World Water Leadership Congress which sat in Mumbai India for his contribution to water efficiency.

He explains that Dr. Mugisha changed the Corporation’s focus by launching a Five-Year plan focusing on infrastructure service delivery, increased geographical coverage, financial efficiency and stakeholder engagement which accelerated service delivery and water for all.

The award panel recognised that under the Water for All programme, NWSC increased the rate of expanding the pipe network from between 80km and 100km annually to 908km in 2014 and 1448km in 2015.
