Opposition Members of Parliament have boycotted the President’s address to the house on the recent developments in the oil sector.

The president addressed the house extensively this afternoon, seeking to assure the country that all decisions taken so far are in their best interests.

Museveni also lashed out at international NGOs, which he said can’t force the agenda of their government on the country.

He says foreign NGOs cannot be counted as part of the civil society advocating for the interests of Ugandans.

Government decisions on the oil sector have been largely criticized by civil society especially on issues of accountability.

All opposition MPs stayed away except Dokolo district woman MP Cecilia Ogwal.
