By Juliet Nalwooga

The leadership of the police Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) has revealed that its officers are not experienced enough to effectively investigate graft.

The revelation has been made by the acting Deputy CID Julius Twinomujuni on the sidelines of the launch of the Fourth National Integrity Survey Report, 2019 (NIS-IV) by the Inspectorate of Government.

Twinomujuni says litigation against corruption requires admissible forensic evidence for which most of their officers need more training.

He has called for capacity building meetings for the police force the anti-corruption agencies like the Office of the Auditor General and the State House Anti-corruption Unit.

According to the report, 75% of respondents revealed that they report corruption cases to police first even though many do not trust the institutions.
