124 people are currently being screened to take part in the clinical trial of the launched Covid-19 UBV- 01N treatment drug.

The drug was launched by president Museveni at Mulago hospital on Wednesday and its clinical trial is being coordinated by the Makerere University Lung Institute.

The head of the institute and also senior clinical trial physician Dr Bruce Kirenga says the 124 people who are being screened will be randomly computerised to either take the drug or matching placebo.

Kirenga has meanwhile assured Ugandans that they will thoroughly evaluate the trial product which will be taken orally by following all the international rules on clinical trials.

The clinical trial for this natural drug will validate its safety and effectiveness, standardization and replication of the product after which it will be rolled out for industrial production and wide spread use.
