Over 1,500 aspiring deputy head teachers up for competence test

The Education Service Commission (ESC) has shortlisted a total of 1,586 applicants for the post of secondary deputy head teacher in the Ministry of Education for competence tests.

In a statement dated February 1, Dr. Asuman Lukwago the commission secretary says the competence tests will take place in a phased manner starting next week on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, till Friday, February 9.

“The competence tests for the above post will take place starting from Wednesday, 7th to Friday, 9th February 2024, starting at 08:00 am each day at Kololo Senior Secondary School, Kampala” the statement reads in part.

Successful applicants have been advised to carry their national identity card, and a school identity card among other requirements.

The Education Service Commission was established by Article 167 (1) of the Constitution to advise the President in performing his functions in relation to appointing all personnel in the education service and it is charged with developing, maintaining, and improving the quality of education staff personnel across the country.

The commission is responsible for approximately 70% of the public service in Uganda.
