Members of the Red Cross lead rescue efforts

An estimated 3312 people in Bududa district remain at risk of suffering landslides.

The Uganda Red Cross Society says the said people are residing in areas close to the scene of Monday’s disaster that claimed the lives of at least 30 people, while over one hundred others remain missing.

The Assistant Director Disaster Management Kevin Nabutuwa says they have started sensitizing residents in the landslide prone areas to vacate them.

The total number of people displaced by landslide has also risen to 735 from 448.

Nabutuwa says efforts at distributing non-food items such as blankets, mosquito nets, basins to the survivors are on going.
