The Prime Minister Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda has welcomed the signing of an agreement that allows construction of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam.
Rugunda who represented the president at the signing says the 6000MW dam will provide the much needed energy to boost development in the region.
He adds that cooperation in the sustainable use of the waters from River Nile is the way to go for all countries in the basin of this might river.
Three African leaders yesterday signed an initial deal to end a long-running dispute over the sharing of Nile waters and the building of Africa’s biggest hydroelectric dam, in Ethiopia.
The leaders of Egypt, Ethiopia and Sudan signed the agreement in Sudan’s capital, Khartoum.
