The police have resounded a warning to all presidential aspirants against holding illegal meetings after their nomination.
The warning comes just a day after the police blocked former premier (former National Resistance Movement Secretary General) Amama Mbabazi’s planned rally at Nakivubo stadium saying he had not sought permission to hold it as required by the Public Order Management Act.
The Police Chief General Kale Kayihura also said they did not have the capacity two similar events simultaneously since the NRM had already booked November for their candidate’s rally at Kololo Independence Grounds.
Now in another statement, the police chief is warning all aspirants to adhere to the guidelines set by the electoral commission for Nominations for Presidential Candidates scheduled to take place at Mandela National Stadium on 3rd and 4th November 2015.
Gen Kayihura particularly says some political organizations intend to organize public activities such as processions and publicity drives today to duly notify the Police in accordance with section 5 of the Public Order Management Act, like the NRM has done.

Section 5 of the POMA states that where a public meeting is held each of the persons organizing it commits an offence if the requirements of this section as to notice have not been satisfied, or
the date when it is held, the time when it starts, or its route, differs from the date, time, or route specified in the notice.
