The Police Chief General Kale Kaihura says recruitment of crime preventers will continue regardless of the criticism from people he describes as political opportunists.
Speaking at a two day police sports gala at Sebei College Tegeres in Kapchorwa district, Gen Kaihura said those criticizing the move are ignorant about the importance of community policing.
The gala was organised to celebrate the medals and trophies that were won by the police sports teams at the World Taekwondo Championship in Bulgaria and East African championships in August and November last year respectively.
At the same event, the IGP passed out 70,000 crime preventers from Kween, Kapchorwa and Elgon region.
These join the 11 million who have been passed out all over the country in the last five years.
