Pope Francis has expressed willingness to come to Uganda to officiate at the 50th anniversary of the canonization of the Uganda Martyrs at Namugongo next year.
The Pope was today meeting President Yoweri Museveni at his office at the Papal building in the Vatican.
In statement released by the office of the president,  Pope Francis said he was looking forward to the trip to Uganda since Uganda Martyrs are considered very important in the Catholic Church.
President Museveni who is on a four day working visit to Rome has today held talks with Cardinal Pietro Parolin the Secretary of State of the Vatican.

Meanwhile, the decision by Kamuli district Chairperson Salaam Musumba to travel with president Museveni to Rome is likely to cause a storm with in the opposition Forum for Democratic Change.
Musumba who represented local government leaders is part of the delegation that is currently in Rome with the president where they met Pope Francis today.
FDC spokesperson John Kikonyogo says if Musumba did not inform the party Secretary General about her trip, she is likely to face disciplinary action.
Kikonyogo says Musumba’s close interaction with the president is likely to be interpreted by party supporters as a cross over to the ruling NRM.
