Pupil struck dead by lightening

Lightning has struck dead a pupil and injured critically 13 others at Hegesa primary school on Butaleja district.

This followed a heavy Monday down pour while the pupils were attending classes.

The deceased has been identified as 10-year-old Zainabu Mwima, a primary three pupil.

Some of the injured are Elisanji Nawanga, Okia Tabo Edirest, Moreen Nashyama, Hadha Yoweri, Yehusa Namugeso, Gloria Namulonde and Mary Gimbo, all primary three pupils.

The Butaleja district Police commander Alex Wabwire, says the injured sustained severe burns on their chest and hands hereby urging the school management to install lightning conductors to avoid similar incidents in the future.
