Majority of public schools in Tororo district have permanently closed as teacher’s strike enters the third day.

Gabriel Emojong one of the parents tells us that his child who is in primary told him that their on Monday asked them not to come to school until an announcement is made asking them to resume with studies.
Unlike in rural areas children in urban settings have resorted to vending which has increased on child labor especially in malaba border.

The UNATU chairperson Tororo branch Walter Obo Okudi confirmed that they have taken a stern position until government pronounces its position their 10% salary increments.

However the CAO Tororo Vitalis Oswan says local arrangement by the district are being made to ensure that teachers go back to class although central government has not yet announced its final position.

Elsewhere as teacher’s industrial action enters day three, some teachers in Kamuli district have shunned the move and reported to school this morning.
