After yesterday’s highly contested NRM parliamentary flagbearer primaries, scenes of celebration and disappointment continue to unfold.
The latest results are coming from constituencies that make up Sembalule district, which are some of the areas that have been mapped out as hot spots.
For Lwemiyaga County, Brig Gen (Rtd) Emmanuel Rwashande has been declared the NRM flag bearer, officially ending Theodre Ssekikubo’s two-decade reign with 16,358 votes against 8, 700.
He has been declared this morning by Arayo Deborah NRM registrar.
’’For the NRM primaries for the position of Member of Parliament for Lwemiyaga constituency in Sembalule district therefore I declare the results as follows , Hon Emmanuel Rwashande who got the highest number of votes 16,358 representing 54.3% as a Member of Parliament flag bearer for the Lwemiyaga constituency , ‘’ said Arayo Deborah NRM registrar .
The lwemiyaga legislator seat attracted 5 candidates including Joy Kabatsi and Jacob Kato.
Rwashande has pledged to all with all those he has defeated to develop Lwemiyaga.
However, Ssekikubo has rejected the results saying the exercise was marred by massive irregularities including the army hijacking the electoral process, abduction and beating of his voters and falsification of registers.
He says he intends to petition the party Electoral Commission to address his concerns
Meanwhile, Registrar Arayo has also declared Hanifah Kawooya the winner of the Mawogola West flag after she garnered 15,900 votes, beating her closet challenger Wilberforce Begumisa who polled just over 9,000
The other notable winners in Sembabule are Aine Sodo Kaguta for Mawogola North, Florence Nambaziira for Woman MP and Dez Oswald Byuma for Mawogola South.
