The selection exercise for Senior 5 students has kicked off today, with schools hiking their entry points.
The traditional schools known for their good performance have dropped students in thousands, leaving many stranded.
Gayaza High School has set 13 points for its cut off, Kibuli Girls Secondary school 21 for girls and 18 points for boys, while Ndejje High School has set 15 for boys and 18 points for girls.
Ntare School is stopping at 17 points and has dropped over 500 students, while Gombe Secondary School is stopping at 16 for boys and 20 for girls.
Mbarara High School has set 16 points for its cut off, dropping over 1000 students.
Kitagwenda High school In Western Ugada is stopping 50 points for girls and 42 for boys, while Muntuyera High School in Ntungamo district is stopping at 19 points for both boys and girls.
In Eastern Uganda, Kira College Butiti is stopping at 25 points while Bukoli College is stopping at 44.
Gulu High School is at 30 points while Adiope Girls School in Arua has stopped at 44 points dropping over 1000 students.
The commissioner for secondary education Francis Agura says competition for the various schools is too high, due t the good performance registered.
He is now appealing to the school heads to have a human face and not deny students opportunities unnecessarily.
Agura is also urging the students to consider joining technical education as a viable alternative.
The technical schools have however also raised their cut off points from 54 points last year to 44.
