Speaker of Parliament Ms. Anita Among has this afternoon adjourned plenary prematurely after none of the cabinet ministers appeared before the House.

The Speaker decried the persistent absence despite her repetitive caution to the cabinet on the same.

In August last year, the Speaker warned about the inconsistent attendance of some of the Members of Parliament in plenary sittings.

She specifically issued cautionary letters to legislators who were said to be in the habit of skipping House proceedings and yet taxpayers’ money was being paid to them to execute their mandate.

“This afternoon, I was compelled to adjourn House Business prematurely because of the absence of a single Minister to respond to critical national matters. The issues raised by MPs concern the well-being of our people who we represent and must be given priority,” Among posted on social media platform X, the former Twitter on Wednesday, minutes after she adjourned plenary.
