The Speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Kadaga has invited the Indian government to extend support and training to small scale and medium enterprises in Uganda.

Kadaga made the call during a courtesy meeting with the new Indian High Commissioner to Uganda, Ravi Shankar in her Chambers at parliament yesterday.

The Speaker says that India’s economy has grown due to small scale businesses and Uganda’s business community can draw lessons from this.

Kadaga has also asked Shankar to reach out to Indian investors to tap into business opportunities in Uganda so as to elevate the economy and to provide more employment opportunities for the formal sector.

Meanwhile, Shankar has promised to strengthen linkages between Uganda and his home country.
