The incumbent Kawempe division mayor, also NUP candidate in this race Emmanuel Sserunjogi has retained his seat with 44,130 votes.
Sserunjogi, beat NRM’s Juma Ssekyazi with 36,087 votes after Ssekyazi getting 8,043 votes.
He has been declared winner by the Kawempe returning officer Robert Mugabe at the tally centre in Kololo where all the Kampala division mayors have been announced this morning.
Other candidates in the Kawempe race include FDC’s Muhamad Mutazindwa, DP’s Isihaq Lukwago and independents Issac Kyaze and Juuko Kiwanuka.
