Migingo

Authorities in Namayingo district have initiated talks with their counter parts from Kenya in a move meant to defuse the rising tension in Migingo islands.

Last month there was fire exchange between Kenyan residents and Ugandan police when the former tried to forcefully to recover their confiscated boat engines.

The Namayingo Resident District Commissioner Samuel Mpimbaza Hashaka tells KFM that they are liaising with the commissioners in Kenya to forge the way forward,

He explains that the minister for internal affairs Gen Aronda Nyakayirima is expected to visit the area soon.

Meanwhile sensitization of the public about the need for peaceful coexistence is ongoing.
