Three people have died on the spot following an accident along the Masaka Mbarara highway.

The deceased have been identified Ronald Muluhura, a resident of Masaka town, James Mutawe a commercial motorcyclist and a woman who is yet to be identified.

The accident occurred at Villa along Masaka Mbarara Highway when a speeding Fuso Truck registration number UAM 0254 knocked down a motorcycle registration UEE 500V that was carrying the trio.

Eye witnesses say the truck belonging to Movit cosmetic company was heading to Mbarara by the time it knocked down the motorcycle that was crossing to the main road from villa road.

The accident occurred last evening.

The Masaka Regional Traffic Police Commander, James Tebaijuka has confirmed the accident attributing it to over speeding and reckless driving.

Police are hunting for the truck driver who is currently on the run.

The bodies of the deceased have been taken to Masaka referral Hospital for autopsies.
