Three Makerere University students have been arraigned before Buganda Road Court and charged with the murder of their colleague David Ojok.

Ivan Mutungi, Marvin Atukwase and Derrick Wagooli all residents of Nkurumah Hall have appeared before grade one magistrate Joan Aciro, who did not allow them to plead to charges because the court lacks jurisdiction to try such capital offences.

Prosecution led by Peter Mugisha informed court that the accused on 12th April this year at Nkurumah Hall Makerere University allegedly pounced on Ojok whom they mistook for a thief and beat him to death.

Ojok was a former computer science student at the university who had visited the university hall to collect his money from a debtor, who is also a student and resident of the same hall.

The trio has now been remanded to Luzira Prison until the 7th of May as police investigations continue.
