According to the school head Peace Kyobutungi, the pupils were in class when the lightning struck at around 4pm.

Six of the deceased were Primary seven pupils while 2 were in Primary six.

Bushenyi RDC Isaac Kawoya has appealed to the Disaster Preparedness Ministry to support the parents and the local community to have lightning conductors installed in all school buildings.
