Passengers from Uganda to Dubai are no longer required to undertake a second covid-19 PCR test within 6 hours prior to departure.

The development was confirmed this afternoon in a tweet by the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority spokesperson Vianney Luggya.

Luggya says the development comes after authorities in the United Arab Emirates updated their travel protocols.

He says under the new travel protocols, passengers are required to present one PCR test undertaken within 48 hours from a Ministry of Health approved laboratory.

The UAE government has since subjected passengers from Uganda, Ghana, and Rwanda to strict entry requirements into Dubai.

Passengers from the three countries were earlier required to present negative Covid-19 PCR test certificates with QR codes for tests conducted at an approved facility no more than 48 hours before departure and at the airport within six hours before the flight.

They were also required to undertake a PCR test upon arrival.
