UBTEB national exams delayed

The first day of the Uganda Business and Technical Examinations has been marked by delays.

The acting executive secretary Uganda Business and Technical Examinations board Onesmus Oyesigye says exam materials were delivered late in areas like Karamoja due to bad roads.

Oyesigye adds that in some cases the candidates had been sent away for nonpayment of tuition fees.

At Nakawa Vocational Training Institute in Kampala, 100 out of the 800 registered students had been turned away but the Principal Patrick Musoke says these have now been allowed to sit but their results will be withheld.

Over 49,000 students are sitting for the examinations at 200 centers, while over 180 scouts and about 400 examination coordinators have been deployed across the country to curb cases of malpractices.
