Officials from Uganda National Examination Board (UNEB) have received reports that a candidate in Northern Uganda was unable to complete her mathematics exams after she mysteriously went blind.

Mercy Atenyo, a candidate at Kitgum Comprehensive College on Monday allegedly went blind a few hours upon entering the examination hall.

Senior four candidates started their Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) examination on Monday with mathematics paper one in the morning and paper two in the evening.

In an interview with KFM, Jenipher Kalule, the UNEB spokesperson said that things turned sour for Atenyo who allegedly went blind one hour and a half after she entered her first paper.

The candidate was taken to the hospital and upon improving demanded to go and sit for her mathematics paper two, only to end up writing her name on paper and lost the sight again.

The head teacher of the school Mr. Charles Odongo yesterday notified UNEB officials that the candidate regained her sight on Tuesday and was able to write her chemistry practical (paper 3).
