The ministry of energy has embarked on a comprehensive pro-active plan to interconnect Uganda’s power grid with neighboring countries to ensure reliable supply.
According to the state minister for Energy Simon Dujanga, the move was prompted by the increasing power demand.
He says Uganda is now in process of connecting with Kenya to help the country have access to electricity from Ethiopia, Sudan and Egypt which are already interconnected.

He explained that although Uganda has invested heavily in construction of new power plants, the demand is still high owing to the high rate of industrialization.
