A new plan by the government could see Ugandan traders penetrating a bigger market in Asia.

The five year plan will see Ugandan traders exporting their products to India, a country with a population of 1.3 billion people, nearly five times bigger than the East African population.

The Director Market and product development at the Uganda Export Promotions Board Dr. Paul Gitta says, the plan is expected to help Uganda make significant gains in the export sector.

He says under the arrangement, India will allow the products to be exported on a tariff free basis.
