Vice chancellor Bishop Stuart University Mbarara Prof. Mauda Kamatenesi has issued warning letters to ten students including the guild president who were arrested on Tuesday 26th over plans to take part in countrywide demonstrations against the motion to removal presidential age limit from the constitution.
In a letter titled ‘’Last warning’’ Kamatenesi advises the students to respect the rules of the university as they are not aligned to any political party in the country being a Christian institution that allows different kinds of people regardless of their political or any cultural affiliations.
She has threatened the students with dismissal if they continue participating in age limit demonstrations since they have been warned several times but they have not taken heed as they continue involve themselves in multiparty politics.
On Tuesday 26th September ten students of BSU were arrested and detained for two days at Mbarara central police station for allegedly disobeying police orders.
BSU guild president Dennis Tumuramya says he does not agree with the decision taken by the administration which he says contradicts the laws of Uganda since court is yet to prove them guilty of any offence.
