What did we learn from the 1st Premier League match week

admin | August 20, 2023

The Premiere League is back, and the weekend matches are giving us more than a show. Everyone had their expectations for the games. Apart from waiting for the big teams like Man City to play well, some were also expecting to see the performances of the newly promoted teams like Burnley and Luton.

The following article will review what we learned until the last match against Manchester United vs. Wolves. Read through to learn more.

The Worthy Debutants

All teams were on the market this summer, getting pieces to improve their squads. The newcomers had a good weekend, with numerous players scoring in their first matches. This is good news for coaches, who can now choose their respective stars based on their visible merit.

If you missed the weekend matches, here are debutants who impressed in their first-ever matches in the premier league:

  • Axel Disasi – New Chelsea Center back
  • Moussa Diaby – Aston Villa striker
  • Sandro Tonali – Newcastle Central midfielder
  • Simon Adingira – Brighton Winger

Fans can use this as a hint to wage on some of these players and their respective teams via betting sites in Uganda as they gear up for an entertaining season from the top league in the world.

The Top 5 Teams are Up for the Challenge

The first match featured a win from defending champions Man City, with the squad through Haaland dominating against newly promoted side Burnley, 3-0. It might have been a projected automatic win, but Pep’s side did enough to prove their upcoming plan for the season.

This is the same with Arteta’s side, which got a 2-1 victory against Nottingham Forest. However, it was rather an unconvincing performance from the Gunners during the last stages of the game. Nonetheless, it was still a victory, so the team is ready to contend for the title again.

Chelsea and Liverpool faced off on Sunday, ending 1-1. Considering the two teams’ performances last campaign, there was more to focus on than the draw result, especially from Chelsea’s point of view.

Manchester United finished the game week with a 1-0 win, but, like Arsenal, it was rather unconvincing considering the side they were facing (Wolves). However, pundits argue that winning Ugly will be Manchester’s style of football this gaming year.

New Teams Uprising

Squads are rising as European football-caliber teams, which has been apparent since last season. They include Newcastle, Brighton, and Brentford. Already in the UCL, Newcastle got a convincing 5-1 win against Villa, while Brighton won 4-1 versus new side Luton Town.

The two teams have technically surpassed Tottenham, who drew 2-2 against Brentford, regarding rankings and performances. Considering the squads’ results in the first week, they are undoubtedly looking to cement and better their impressive performances from last season.

Conclusion

Therefore, we are in for an interesting season, thus crucial to be ready for an emotional roller coaster as a fan of any EPL team. Like last campaign, we shall see new teams rise while others slip up, like Aston Villa in their first game.
