Works and transport minister Eng Abraham Byandala has snubbed summons by the Criminal Intelligence Investigations Directorate (CIID).

Byandala had been invited to the Special Investigations Unit in Kireka this morning to explain his role in the controversial Katosi road construction deal but he did not show up.

The police deputy spokesperson Polly Namaye says the minister is required to explain contents of a letter dated December 14th 2013 which he allegedly wrote instructing the acting UNRA Managing Director to sign the contract for the Katosi deal.

Namaye says they are going to write to Byandala again asking him to produce a copy of the said letter and also record a statement.

However in a letter to the police CIID chief dated January 2nd 2015, the minister insists that he already recorded a statement before the Inspectorate of Government.
