Uganda ‘courts’ SportPesa Kenya

David Kugonza | July 28, 2017

By Nelson Wesonga:

Kenyan gaming company SportPesa, which Uganda is courting to set up shop here, wants gaming law amended to incorporate online licensing.

SportPesa’s chief executive officer Ronald Karauri says such a provision would encourage them to offer their services in Uganda with ease.

He says putting the license application fee at Shs3.5bn and an annual license renewal fee of Shs890m will ensure jokers do not venture into gaming with the intention of cheating customers.

Karauri had paid a courtesy call on the deputy speaker of Parliament, Jacob Oulanyah.

The company was invited by State minister for Youth and Children Affairs Florence Nakiwala Kiyingi.
