Lukwago directs ED to stop harassing taxi operators over daily dues

By Damalie Mukhaye.

Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago has directed the executive director of Kampala Capital City Authority to immediate stop the alleged brutality against taxi operators over daily dues.

KCCA yesterday resumed its operation targeting commuter taxis whose owners have not paid their taxes for three months in disregard for a presidential directive halting the same.

Addressing journalists at City Hall this morning, Lukwago has asked the authority to collect fees annually as directed by the president.

Lukwago says that Taxi drivers should demand Museveni to stand by his directive asking KCCA technical wing to stop beating and causing violence in the city over an illegal tax collection.
