The government has dismissed claims that the Anti-Terrorism (Amendment) Bill, 2015 is targeting individuals.
Parliament on Thursday evening passed the bill amidst protests from the opposition that said in its current form was aimed at cracking down individuals attempting to challenge the current regime.
However the Attorney general Fred Ruhindi says these fears are baseless noting that the law has been brought in good spirit with intention to check financing of terrorist activities.
The passing of the bill was done in haste to beat the international deadline set for Uganda which is today.
The speaker of parliament Rebecca Kadaga said Uganda would face international sanctions for failure to beat the deadline, and approve the legislation on financing of terrorism.
