China Communications Constructions Company (CCCC) a company behind construction of the Kampala-Entebbe Expressway has been ranked number three out of the 250 global construction companies by Engineering News Record (ENR), an American weekly magazine that provides news, analysis, data and opinion for the construction industry worldwide, in its 2017 survey.

According to Joseph Zheng Biao the Acting Country Manager, it is a milestone that demonstrates that the company’s construction work meets global standards.

“We are honoured to be named the best Chinese contractor in the world and one of the best in the world, for the 11th time running. This milestone goes to demonstrate that CCCC’s construction work meets global standards. Uganda is a direct beneficiary of our expertise in the area of mega infrastructure development,” he said.

He says Uganda is a direct beneficiary of its expertise in the area of mega infrastructure development.
Currently this company is undertaking the Expansion of the Entebbe International Airport, Constructing the Mubende-Kakumiro-Kagadi and Soroti – Moroto Road among other projects in Uganda.

According to ENS, the market for international contractors has been constrained over the past four years, due to a drop in commodity metals prices, and collapse in oil prices. International contractors also have had to contend with national political and financial upheavals.

The magazine points out that the uncertainties in the international construction market can be seen in the results of the ENR Top 250 International Contractors survey.

The Top 250 International Contractors reported $468.12 billion in contracting revenue in 2016 from projects outside their home countries, down 6.4%, from $501.14 billion, in 2015. This is the third straight year showing a drop in Top 250 revenue
