By Ritah Kemigisa.

Engineers have been asked to form joint ventures if they to have the capacity to take over most of the government’s infrastructural development projects.

According to the president of the Uganda Institution of professional engineers Eng.Vincent Olie, a single engineer does not have the capacity to do many of the big available projects.

Olie says most of the projects are capital intensive and as such many engineers cannot ably bid for their financing.

He adds that many Ugandan engineers continue to miss out on getting some of the big contracts because they come with a lot of conditionality’s which many cannot overcome.

Olie meanwhile says the perception people have about local engineers and the lack of capital continue to be the greatest challenges faced.
