The Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) has revealed an ambitious plan to create 16,500 jobs for the youth across all its five divisions.
This is contained in its 2025-30 strategic plan that focuses on economic growth, infrastructure, and sustainability.
Sharifa Buzeki, the KCCA executive director says they have already established a target to create at least 3,300 jobs per the National Development Plan IV cycle using funds designated for youth entrepreneurship.
She was speaking in Kampala on Wednesday morning during the signing a Shs1.2 bn grant meant to facilitate youth employment in the city between Enable and KCCA said they are actively using the PDM to boost local, community-level job creation.
“Specific targets include fostering job creation through the Parish Development Model and supporting the youth through initiatives like the youth fund, aimed at creating thousands of jobs each cycle,” data from KCCA shows.
Buzeki added that the overall goal of KCCA’s Strategic Plan 2025-2030 is to make Kampala a “Vibrant, Attractive, Liveable and Sustainable City” and a hub of economic opportunities.
