Man to be prosecuted for raping prostitute

The Director of Public Prosecutions has ordered before the High Court the trial of a 30 year old man accused of raping a prostitute.

Kamulegeya George currently on remand at Luzira prison has appeared before City Hall Court grade one magistrate Elias Kakooza who committed him to High Court for trial upon DPP’s directions.

Prosecution states that Kamulegeya a resident of Kiwatule in Nakawa division Kampala district on 1st April 2015 at Kiwatule raped a one Aisha Nakatte a prostitute at Nsimbiziwome Ntinda in Nakawa.

Court heard that on the night of 30th/March 2015 the victim and her colleagues were on the streets while weighting for customers to come, the accused approached her and the two agreed on 30,000 shillings for the services and she was to be taken to the accused’s home in Kiwatule.

But instead the accused led the victim to a busy area where there was an unfinished house; upon reaching there accused assaulted her, robbed her 80,000 shillings with a phone, undressed and raped her.

Dpp’s report also indicates that Kamulegeya after his acts fell asleep; the victim managed to escape and reported the matter to a nearby police station.

He is further remanded to Luzira prison until the next convenient session of the High Court.
