The Police in Kamuli have arrested a 35yr old man for allegedly starving his child to death .

Matayo Bakalibanga, a resident of Butaswa village is said to have locked his 6 year-old daughter in the house without food.

The body of the deceased was discovered by the neighbors who reported the matter to the police.

Residents say the suspect drinks too much alcohol and that his wife divorced him but left the child behind.

Kamuli district police commander Musa Nabende says the suspect was drunk at the time of his arrest.

Nabende says the body has been taken to Kamuli Hospital Mortuary as investigations into the real cause of the child’s death continue.

The suspect is being held at Kamuli central police station.
