TB patient

The ministry of health says it’s to intensify the fight against new multiple-drug –resistant tuberculosis

The state health minister in charge of general duties Dr. Elioda Tumwesigye says they are increasing surveillance for the disease to ensure that patients are given early diagnosis and treatment.

Dr. Tumwesigye notes that MDR – TB remains a major killer, yet the cost of medication and management is too high for many Ugandans to afford.

He says they are to increase funding for the new MDR-TB to prevent further spread.
