The ministry of education has released the results of students who sat for the 2016 grade III Teachers Certificate Examination, indicating a slight improvement in the students’ performance.
Presenting the results at the office of the president, the Vice Chancellor Kyambogo University Prof Elly Kantuguka said that out of the 16,000 candidate,10,000 passed while over 5,000 failed completely.
Only 6 candidates got distinctions, 9,500 credit and 529 attained passes.
He notes that the best performing colleges in 2016 were Bundibujo PTC, Rakai PTC, Bushenyi PTC, Bishop Stuart PTC, Ndegeya PTC and Canon Apology PTC all of whom attained an overall percentage of pass of over 85% while the worst PTCs include Busoga college, St John the Baptist PTC Ggaba,Nazigo PTC, Namutamba and Walugogo PTC with pass below 40%.
He explains that all the subjects were done well with an overall percentage pass of over 85% with the exception of mathematics which recorded pass rate 76%, indicating an improvement in performance compared to 2015.
