Attorney General, Kiryowa Kiwanuka has filed his defence for a petition filed against him and 5 others including the Chief Justice by one of their own, Justice Esther Kisaakye.

On October 3, the Supreme Court Judge petitioned the Constitutional Court, mainly about the events that arose out of last year’s presidential election petition between Robert Kyagulanyi and President Yoweri Museveni.

Justice Kisakye accuses the head of the Judiciary of denying her a chance to deliver her dissenting judgment in the majority decision of 8-1.

She also accuses him of refusing to grant her leave, and to assign her work.

However, in his response, the Attorney General argues that the petition does not raise any questions for constitutional interpretation and that it is an abuse of the court process.

All the other accused have until close of business today to submit their responses.

Buy last evening, the Chief Justice’s defense team was still working round the clock to beat the seven-day deadline.

Besides the Chief Justice, others sued are Judiciary Permanent Secretary Pius Bigirimana, Chief Registrar Sarah Langa, Commissioner Human Resources Apophia Tumwine, Judicial Service Commission and Attorney General.
