The president said once the primary 7 candidates and Senior Four candidates complete their finals on 31st March, and 6th April , this will create space to cater for the additional 1.7M children.

He added that Universities and tertiary  institutions will also open next month but in a staggered way.

The president said ministry of education would give a detailed program of reopening for other classes after finals of the candidate classes.

Bars remain closed

Hopes of opening up other sectors that remain closed due to the covid 19 pandemic have been dashed after President Museveni hinged their reopening to a vaccine.

Addressing the nation last evening President Museveni said sectors like bars and entertainment places will remain closed until a vaccine is found.

He noted that allowing them to reopening now before a vaccine would be high risk, calling for patience.

He called on all Ugandans to respect the set guidelines to contain spread of the virus in the country, expressing concern over recklessness of some citizens

The country currently has a cumulative figure of 39735 infections, 327 deaths and 14,310 recoveries.
