The Democratic Party has fronted Fred Mukasa Mbidde as their flag bearer ahead of the East African Legislative Assembly Elections due to take place in 2017.
According to the party publicist, Alex Waisswa the decision was unanimously reached at during last week’s national executive committee that convened at Pope Paul memorial hotel.
Mbidde’s nomination means he will be serving his second and last term as an MP of EALA.
The last election which took place in 2012 was dramatic after Forum for Democratic Change boycotted protesting the biggest percentage which keeps going to NRM taking 6 seats out of the 9 seats Uganda has in the EALA government.
In September, the EALA Member of Parliament were seeking to have the regional heads of state increased from 9 to 15 members from each country to have an effective representation.
