Last week the chairperson of the University’s Appointments Board Bruce Kabaasa wrote to the Vice Chancellor instructing him to suspend Dr. Nyanzi with immediate effect for insulting the first lady and minister of education and sports Janet Museveni on social media.

The letter states that in total disregard of earlier warnings, Dr. Nyanzi has continued to use social media to violate Section 5.7.7 of the university Human Resources Manual 2009.

Prof Ddumba now tells KFM that he has complied with the board’s directive and written the said letter which is now before the Director Human Resources who will decide the next course of action.

Meanwhile, speaking to KFM about her impending suspension, the controversial Makerere University research fellow Dr.Stella Nyanzi says she is yet to receive any communication to that effect.

Trouble between Dr. Nyanzi and the First Lady has been brewing since she told a parliamentary committee early this year that there was no money for sanitary pads for school going children due to competing priorities.
