Police Spokesperson at Sipi Region however could not confirm the number by press time but insisted that four men had been held in regard to the incident.

All the suspects whose names could not be disclosed by police for security purposes were arrested yesterday by officers from Police Flying Squad at Kongowo Guest House located at Tax Park village near the scene of crime.

Stephen Labu, the proprietor of the Guest House confirmed that five young men and three young women were arrested.

His two sons, a customer who had lodged at the premise the previous night but not checked out and five workers of the lodge and bar were picked in the afternoon of Wednesday by plain clothed officers and driven off to Kapchorwa CPS without questioning. The same officers later got a fatal accident on their way back to Mbale.

Business in the town has started although people are still gripped in fear. The show saw a small turn up of people at night even after security had been improved with more officers on guard and patrol.

The death of officer saw many including the IGP accuse the District Police Commander for laxity and poor planning in securing the venue of the trade show.
