The matter was yesterday drawn to the attention of the Speaker Rebecca Kadaga by Kasanda North MP Patrick Nsamba, who argued that the new tariffs will kick ordinary Ugandans from using power despite heavy interest on loans.

The lawmaker also convinced the Speaker that the tariffs contract the purpose of the loans.
Kadaga then instructed the minister to appear and give answers to Parliament today without fail.
The new cost of power is shs 771 per a unit, up from shs 718 shillings.
