The ministry of education is planning to review the Universal primary Education (UPE) program.
The Assistant commissioner primary Education at the ministry Dr.Tony Mukasa says they have observed that the quality of education in UPE schools is still wanting.
Dr.Mukasa notes that the assessment will go a long way to improve on the standard of schools offering free education.

The initiative that started in 1997, as part of a national policy to provide free primary education for underprivileged children seems to be falling apart amid a very high number of dropouts and poor-quality schooling for some of those who complete primary school.
