This comes at a time the country is hosting about 1.3 Million refugees mainly from south Sudan.

Addressing journalists in Entebbe, Gillies said his main objective is to create awareness about the plight of the refugees in Uganda to the international community and to raise funds which can be used to address the immediate needs of the refugees and host communities.

Hollywood actor Daniel Gillies, popularly known by his television name Elijah Mikaelson was in the country courtesy of Oxfam Uganda for a week and visited Imvepi and Bidibidi refugee settlements.

Meanwhile, regional governments have been challenged to address the real cause of the refugee crisis in Uganda.

This comes from Oxfam Uganda one of the organisations supporting the refugees in Uganda at a time the country is registering an influx of refugees.

Addressing journalists the organisation’s country Director Peter Kamalingin says there is urgent need to invest in services and infrastructure.

He however says there is no amount of support that will solve the refugee’s challenges if the influx in not checked hence the need for the powers that be to address the push factors.
