The chairperson for Kawempe boda boda riders association, Frank Mawejje has asked the government not to put ultimatums on their registration as it is not feasible.

This comes after Minister for Kampala, Minsa Kabanda’s Friday statement indicating that no unregistered boda boda rider will be allowed to access Kampala city starting today Monday, September 19.

Now Mawejje tells KFM that the particulars asked for during the registration are not practical since they are asked for log books yet according to him, 80% of riders don’t own the motorcycles.

He says they have planned to work normally today regardless of Minister Kabanda’s pronouncement.

“They tend to chase us from some places where we would get passengers from, at the same time they leave way for the boda bodas to park, do the same business we are doing. What hurts us is that we pay. There’s passenger service vehicle license we pay but these boda bodas don’t pay any coin,” Mawejje told KFM.

Kabanda said the registered riders will be trained afresh and given new licenses.
