Kisoro district is filled with excitement as they prepare for a grand thanksgiving party to celebrate the retirement of General Kale Kayihura from the Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF).  The announcement has been made by Kisoro LCV Chairperson, Abel Bizimana, in an exclusive interview with our reporter.

According to Bizimana, the preparations for the celebration will commence next month, adding that the event is scheduled to take place on December 18, 2023. First Son, Gen Muhoozi Keinerugaba is expected to grace the occasion.

Bizimana expressed the sentiments of the residents in Kisoro, who are elated by the dropping of criminal charges against Kale Kayihura. He commended President Museveni for granting Kayihura a dignified retirement from UPDF and pardoning him from the charges he faced in the Court Martial.

He says the grand party will not only be a celebration of General Kayihura’s retirement but also an opportunity for the people of Kisoro to come together and partake in various activities, including football matches and a marathon, during the thanksgiving function.

Speaking on the importance of General Kayihura’s resignation, Bizimana stated that it would grant him the freedom to express his opinions without any restrictions from UPDF. This newfound liberty is seen as a positive step forward for the retired General as he moves into the next phase of his life.
